Professor Simon Finfer

Professor Simon Finfer is an Enabling Grant Chief Investigator and was a founding member of the ANZICS CTG. In 1996, he proposed restructuring the group to adopt more formal administrative and management structures, which resulted in a significant increase in the group’s activities and in its productivity. Professor Finfer was the vice-Chair of the CTG Executive from 1997-2000 and Chair of the CTG Executive from 2000–2004, a period of significant growth and success for the CTG. He was a principal investigator and study chairman for the SAFE study and Vice-Chair for the MERIT study. He chairs the international management committee for the NICE SUGAR study. He currently serves on the management committees for the SAFE, MERIT, ANZICS CTG Feeding Guidelines, NICE and RENAL. He has extensive experience of the design, conduct and day-to-day running of large-scale trials in the critically ill and a proven record in forging effective research collaborations in Australia, New Zealand and Internationally.
