Professor John Myburgh
Professor John Myburgh is an Enabling Grant Chief Investigator and is a foundation member and the immediate past Chairman of the ANZICS Clinical Trials Group. He is an Intensive Care physician and currently Director of Intensive Care research at The St George Hospital, Sydney. He has been involved in laboratory and clinical research since 1989 and completed a PhD at the University of Adelaide in 2003. He has been a chief investigator on 4 NHMRC grants since 1997, attracting a total of $2.7M. He has extensive experience in clinical research, particularly in traumatic brain injury and catecholamine pharmacodynamics. He coordinated the Australasian Traumatic Brain Injury Study for the CTG and was a principal investigator and member of the writing and management committees for the ANZICS-CTG’s dopamine, epidemiology of severe sepsis, SAFE and NICE studies. He has published 30 original articles with over 200 citations.
